City of Lincolnton News Updates
Posted on: October 17, 2019[ARCHIVED] City Streets to Close for Apple Festival
Detour routes posted, plan ahead!
Downtown streets will close starting at 3am on Saturday, October 19 for Apple Festival and will remain closed until approximately 11pm. East & West Main Street will be closed from Flint St to Grove St. Water Street will also be closed on both the east and west sides of the Court Square. Detour routes are Pine Street when travelling west and Congress Street to Laurel to Generals Blvd when traveling east.
The Apple Festival is the largest street fair in Lincolnton, held annually each October. Although the street closures create some inconveniences for residents, the Apple Festival brings many visitors from out of town into Lincolnton to see, and experience, all that the City of Lincolnton has to offer. Merchants say that many of the out of town visitors return to Lincolnton to shop and dine at other times during the year.
This year the Apple Festival is operating two shuttle parking lots to ease traffic congestion and parking issues during the event. Shuttle parking lots are located at Lincolnton Plaza (1555 North Aspen at Generals Blvd, in the ReStore parking lot) and Lincolnton High School (803 North Aspen at Skip Lawing Drive). Both lots are staffed, and the shuttle bus will run continuous loops from each lot to the festival drop off at First Federal Park, one block from East Main Street at Poplar. Round-trip shuttle rides cost only $2 per person.
A traffic detour map showing the best routes to avoid barricades and closures is attached.
