Long planned water main line replacement work on East Water Street wraps up and improves service to business owners on East Main and East Water Streets.

The water line is completed, and now the new businesses on East Water Street are tapping into the line and installing water meters. As a result, the street will be closed intermittently as the new service is established. Thanks for your patience as we improve downtown Lincolnton!

East Water Street is now open to through traffic. The water main has been replaced with larger pipe to improve water flow & pressure to the south side of East Main Street and the businesses launching on East Water Street.
East Water Street between Court Square & S Academy will be closed thru Friday, 8/3
Long planned water main line replacement work on East Water Street is set to begin on Thursday, July 26, 2018. East Water Street from Court Square to South Academy will be closed to all traffic while the work is underway. The city anticipates reopening Water Street at the end of next week, August 3, when the water main line replacement is completed.
The water main is being upgraded to improve the water service to businesses located on the south side of the 100 block of East Main. The upgraded water main will also accommodate the growth and anticipated future water distribution needs for redevelopment taking place on Water Street. This is part of the city’s ongoing Capital Improvement Plan.
Detour routes during the closure of Water Street include East Main, East Church and East Congress Streets.
